But Rihanna has managed to get her revenge – by appearing nude on a giant billboard in New York's Times Square.
The image shows a red-headed Rihanna covering her modesty with her arms as she promotes her latest fragrance, Rebelle.
And the sultry image splashed across the bustling Big Apple spot should serve to prove that the 24-year-old is certainly not shy of showing off her figure.
The singer even proudly retweeted a snapshot of the billboard posted to Twitter by her management.
It came just hours after the star launched a furious rant on the microblogging site when a newspaper claimed she had used a body double for portions of her sexy commercial for Armani Jeans.
